Good leadership is necessary to make trips happen in an orderly and enjoyable manner.  Everyone on a trip is responsible for his/her own safety and for assisting with the trip as a whole.  However, one person must have the final word to assure the decisions are made in the interest of organization and group safety.  That person is the Trip Leader.

To become a leader you must demonstrate paddling skills and leadership skills.  In addition you must be and AMC member, be on the Boston Paddlers roster, and be 18 years or older.

Our leadership training program includes evening workshops, safety and rescue training, and an apprenticeship program.
